Michael you are lucky in as much as you pretty much work for yourself.
In many large organisations E.mail has become a tool for CYA (cover your butt)with all major decisions needing to be put in writing. This level of beaurocracy kills speedy decision making and rewards those who follow procedures and tow the company line.
I am sure that the executives you mention are excellent at their job, and that they resent working exsclusively from behind a desk almost as much as you would. They must however have demonstrated the ability to survive within this environment and undoubtedly use E.mail as a tool to ensure their continued success.
I wrote in my own blog yesterday about how big businesses are killing creativity and this is yet another example of the stifling effect of beaurocracy. Thank the lord that you work within a small dedicated team and are able to work in a way that allows your creativity to blossom. - At 7:47 PM, said...
