And What About Chavez?

Down in Venezuela, Hugo Chavez has announced that he will nationalize the country's biggest telecommunications and electricity companies, which are not controlled by U.S. companies. He also said he will abandon the country's commercial code and take full control of the central bank (which had some autonomy before). His dream, he says, is to create a 21st century, socialist utopia. Centralized, socialist governments haven't worked before, but Chavez is counting on his country's oil wealth to make this latest effort succeed.

Power hungary people always say that they are doing it for the people, or in our country, for the children. In actual fact if you could be a fly on the wall of Chavez's office you would probably just see a venial, vindictive, master politician with dreams of being a Caligula to his adoring and worshipful people. Now he wants to change the law so he can be President for life.
Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Yes that’s true Big Business knows all about this... Yet I feel you misinterpret Chavez's actions judging him as you might the power crazed world domination aspiring US of A. This would be a mistake. During his time as the legitimate democratically elected president he has decentralized power. Wealth, health and education have all improved for the people of Venezuela. Can we say the same for USA over the last 8 years?
